A flatter soffit that earns its keep

The virtually flat soffit reduces structural zone depth, simplifies services coordination above suspended ceilings, and means no additional fire protection is required to the beam top flange on qualifying designs. That removes a trade from the programme and a cost from the budget. The clean underside also gives a tidy, paint-ready finish where the soffit is left exposed — no extra cladding, no boxing-in.

Less concrete, lower loads, smaller frame

The trapezoidal design optimises concrete usage, offering significant material savings while maintaining exceptional structural performance. Less concrete means less weight in the slab, which carries straight through to lighter beams, smaller columns and reduced foundation loads — savings that compound across every floor of a multi-storey build. Fewer concrete pours and less pumping also mean less time on site and a lower carbon footprint per square metre.

Spans that cut the prop count

With spans typically reaching up to 3.5 metres (depending on load and concrete depth), the MF55 covers a wide range of applications — from new commercial developments and renovations to multi-storey car parks. Longer unpropped spans mean fewer temporary props, faster deck lay rates and a clearer working area below for follow-on trades.

Fast, safe and predictable on site

Lightweight sheets are quick to lift, position and fix, giving crews an immediate safe working platform as the frame goes up. Consistent profiling and reliable embossment mean dependable composite action with the concrete and fewer surprises at design stage. Backed by full span and load tables, the MF55 lets engineers specify with confidence and contractors price with certainty.

Watch this short video for a quick explanation!

  • Fire Rating and Structural Integrity: The MF55 system is designed to meet stringent fire resistance standards, providing up to 120 minutes of fire rating when combined with the correct concrete depth and reinforcement mesh.

  • Delivery and Installation Efficiency: Each artic load can deliver up to 800 m² of MF55 decking, streamlining logistics and minimising on-site storage requirements. Its lightweight yet robust design makes handling and installation faster and safer.

  • Compliance with Design Codes and Standards (see technical).

THE VERSATILE RE-ENTRANT FLOOR DECK

Features

Profile depth: 55mm

Cover width: 600mm

Pitch: 150mm

Crown width: 41mm

Valley width: 133mm

Available gauges: 0.9mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm

Steel grades: S350 or S450

Benefits

55mm deep dovetail re-entrant profile, 600mm cover width, virtually flat soffit

100mm minimum slab depth for 60-minute fire rating with normal weight concrete

90% beam top flange coverage in line with SCI P375, meaning no additional fire protection required to the top flange of supporting steelwork on qualifying designs

Wide trough gives great flexibility and efficiency for shear stud placement

Recessed service ribs at 150mm centres for wedge nut and service hanger attachment without drilling

Higher concrete mass than equivalent trapezoidal profiles delivers superior acoustic performance

Thermally efficient profile: small soffit opening limits heat transfer, easing fire rating attainment

Unpropped spans in excess of 3.5m achievable

Available in 0.9mm, 1.0mm, and 1.2mm gauges in S350 or S450 grade

Available with enhanced coating systems for increased corrosion resistance

CE and UKCA certified

Applications

Multi-rise residential towers and apartment buildings where storey height efficiency and acoustic performance are primary design requirements

Student accommodation, hotel, and healthcare developments where 60 or 90-minute fire ratings must be achieved from the thinnest practical slab

Education buildings and public sector projects where acoustic performance between floors is a specification requirement

Refurbishment and extension projects where additional floor depth above existing structure must be minimised

Any scheme where the removal of beam top flange fire protection is a programme or cost objective
